Manoj Muntashir Shukla, the talented dialogue writer of the highly anticipated film “Adipurush,” has recently taken a significant step towards reconciliation by issuing an “unconditional apology” for any emotional distress caused by the movie. Directed by the visionary filmmaker Om Raut and featuring the charismatic Prabhas in the lead role, “Adipurush” has garnered immense attention and scrutiny since its release last month.

Unfortunately, the film faced heavy criticism from both audiences and critics alike due to its use of pedestrian language, which was perceived as falling short of expectations for such a grand mythological epic. Recognizing the impact of these shortcomings, Shukla, alongside the rest of the film’s team, acknowledged the need for revisions in certain dialogues to address the concerns raised by viewers.

On Saturday, Shukla took to Twitter to express his acceptance of the fact that “Adipurush” had hurt people’s sentiments. I accept that ‘Adipurush’ has harmed people’s emotions,’ he stated. I apologize wholeheartedly and with my hands folded. Shukla, who wrote the Hindi dialogues and lyrics for the Ramayana adaptation, said, “May Prabhu Bajrang Bali keep us united and grant us the strength to serve our sacred Sanatan and our great nation. #Adipurush.”

“Adipurush,” which was released in June across India in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil, features Prabhas as Raghav (Ram), Kriti Sanon as Janaki (Sita), and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh (Raavan). The high-budget, multilingual tale, which was made by T-Series, received flak on social media for its mediocre visual effects (VFX) and informal language. Several political parties even demanded a ban on the film’s screening.

The impact of the controversy even reached neighbouring Nepal, where the film was banned due to a specific dialogue referring to Sita as India’s daughter. The incident shed light on the delicate nature of cultural sensitivities and the importance of portraying revered legends with utmost care and respect.

“Adipurush” fell short of expectations following its opening weekend. The film managed to earn Rs 340 crore within the first three days, but its box office collections experienced a significant decline thereafter. Nevertheless, to date, “Adipurush” has still managed to raise over Rs 450 crore.

Shukla’s apology signifies a recognition of the criticism and disappointment surrounding the film. By acknowledging the hurt caused to people’s sentiments, he attempts to bridge the gap and mend relationships with the audience. The dialogue writer’s gesture of extending an unconditional apology is an important step in acknowledging the impact of creative choices on the emotions of the viewers.

As the controversy surrounding “Adipurush” continues, it remains to be seen how the film’s team will address the criticisms and implement the promised revisions. The film industry, too, may reflect on this incident to ensure that future projects pay careful attention to cultural sensitivities and deliver a more refined cinematic experience.

In conclusion, Manoj Muntashir Shukla’s apology for hurting people’s emotions in “Adipurush” acknowledges the impact of the film’s content on the audience. As the dialogue writer expresses remorse and seeks unity, the film’s team faces the task of addressing the concerns raised by the public. The incident serves as a reminder for the industry to be mindful of cultural sensitivities and strive for excellence in storytelling.
