Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a deliberation on Tuesday, September 21st called upon prestigious names to be added to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situation (PM CARES) Fund. The PM’s office announced on Wednesday morning, that Tata Son’s revered ex-chairperson Ratan Tata, former Supreme Court Judge KT Thomas, and former deputy Lok Sabha Speaker Kariya Munda were nominated as trustees of the fund along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Such addition has been explained with regards to the constitution and expansion of an Advisory Committee to the PM CARES fund which would enable them to broaden their vision in the pursuit of constructively tackling emergency situations.
Some existing members of the Advisory Board include names like Rajiv Mehrishi, former Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Sudha Murthy, former chairperson of Infosys Foundation, Anand Shah, the co-founder of Teach for India, and the Former CEO of Indi corps and Primal Foundation.
The PM CARES was instituted as a response to combating the distressing conditions which prevailed, with the Covid-29 pandemic hitting the nation in 2020. Their motive has been to provide relief measures to any situation that arose as a cause of the pandemic and is completely backed by willful donations made by any individual or organization and is devoid of budgetary support.
The PM is hopeful of the new nominees and believes that their vast experience in their respective fields and dynamic approaches would bring holistic resolutions to the varied problems of public life.
