Mika Singh slams Diljit over Hania collaboration.
Diljit Dosanjh is set to star in an upcoming film that has already begun creating a buzz, not just for its storyline but also for its cast. The film features popular Pakistani actress Hania Aamir as one of the female leads, marking her debut in a major Indian project. Known for her vibrant personality and acting prowess, Hania will share screen space with the talented Neeru Bajwa, a frequent collaborator of Diljit. The casting choice has sparked controversy, with some, including singer Mika Singh, criticizing the move. Despite the backlash, fans are excited to see this cross-border collaboration unfold on screen.
Diljit Dosanjh Faces Backlash Over ‘Sardaarji 3’ Featuring Pakistani Actress Hania Aamir
The film stars Pakistani actress Hania Aamir alongside Punjabi cinema favorite Neeru Bajwa, a casting decision that has sparked heated debate, especially in the wake of the recent terrorist attack.
The film, which is scheduled for an overseas release on June 27, has drawn criticism for featuring a Pakistani actress at a time when tensions between the two neighboring countries are running high. Adding fuel to the fire, singer Mika Singh took to social media to publicly condemn Diljit’s involvement in the project.
In a scathing Instagram story titled Desh Pehle (Nation First), Mika Singh lashed out at the actor-singer, calling him a “fake singer” and “irresponsible.” He wrote, “Guys, as we all know, the relationship between India and Pakistan isn’t going well right now. Yet some people continue to act irresponsibly.” Mika urged artists to think twice before associating with talent from across the border, particularly during sensitive times when national sentiments are at stake.
Citing the example of the banned Indo-Pak project Abir Gulal, Mika criticized Diljit for allegedly prioritizing personal gain over national dignity.
He further accused Diljit of abandoning Indian audiences after profiting from his recent sold-out concerts. “What’s more shocking is that a fake singer, after doing 10 shows in India with thousands of fans buying tickets, has now disappeared — leaving fans betrayed and helpless,” Mika claimed.
In response to the criticism, Diljit Dosanjh defended his stance during an interview with BBC Asian Network. He clarified that the film was shot in February, long before the Pahalgam incident occurred. “When the film was made, the situation was fine. A lot of things happened after that which are not in our control,” he said.
He also explained that due to the changed circumstances, the producers have decided not to release Sardaarji 3 in India, even though it represents a financial loss.
Notably, Diljit is not just the lead actor but also a co-producer of the film, alongside Gunbir Singh Sidhu and Manmord Sidhu. Sardaarji 3 is directed by Amar Hundal.
