The director later ventured into Hindi cinema, remaking the film as Kabir Singh, starring Shahid Kapoor in the lead role. While both Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh achieved significant success at the box office, they also faced criticism for glorifying toxic masculinity.

The trailer further intensifies this theme, depicting Ranbir’s character resorting to violence as he grapples with deep-seated daddy issues, notably choking Rashmika’s character for daring to point them out.

Animal is set to face off against Vicky Kaushal’s period drama, Sam Bahadur, directed by Meghna Gulzar, in a box office showdown. The industry is optimistic for a box office resurgence following the somewhat subdued performance of Tiger 3, which didn’t dominate the market as expected. Ranbir Kapoor’s previous venture, the romantic comedy Tu Jhooti Main Makkar, achieved global success with over Rs 200 crore in earnings, although its production costs were nearly as substantial. A similar scenario unfolded with Brahmastra, struggling to recover its reported Rs 400 crore budget at the box office. In contrast, Animal is rumoured to have been produced at a more economical cost of Rs 100 crore, potentially enhancing its prospects in the competitive cinematic landscape.
