Samantha’s much-anticipated Bollywood dream project has reportedly hit a rough patch. According to sources, the makers were forced to remove nearly 26 days’ worth of already shot scenes following unexpected changes in the script. Hyderabad: Samantha’s Big Bollywood Dream Hits a Roadblock, But All Hope is Not Lost
After creating a strong presence in the South Indian film industry, she made a promising debut in Bollywood with Amazon Prime Video’s The Family Man 2. Following that, she worked on Citadel: Honey Bunny, the Indian version of the global spy thriller franchise, starring opposite Varun Dhawan. With these major web series, Samantha’s Bollywood journey seemed to be on a steady rise.
Touted as a fantasy action thriller, the show was expected to feature her alongside Bollywood heartthrob Aditya Roy Kapur. The series was said to be a visually stunning tale set in a fictional universe, with a strong female lead character that Samantha was excited to portray. The scale of the project, the story, and the cast made it one of the most awaited Indian OTT shows.
However, recent reports sent shockwaves across the industry and among fans. Rumours began to circulate that Rakt Brahmand had been abruptly shelved due to financial issues and alleged fraud. According to sources, the team faced massive setbacks when it was discovered that one of the earlier producers had cheated them, resulting in major losses. The production had already completed 26 days of shooting, but due to a change in the script and storyline, all those scenes were scrapped. This decision caused both creative and financial strain on the project.
It was speculated that Netflix was unwilling to continue funding the series in its new form and expressed concerns about escalating costs. As these rumours gained traction, many assumed the project had been cancelled, and that the actors, including Samantha, had moved on to other commitments.
The situation seemed bleak until a ray of hope arrived from the creators themselves. Filmmakers Raj & DK, known for their unique storytelling style and successful projects like The Family Man, addressed the controversy in a recent statement. Speaking to Filmfare, they clarified that Rakt Brahmand had not been cancelled. While they acknowledged the challenges and delays, they confirmed that the show is still in development and has not been shelved.
“For Samantha, this project is very important,” they said. “She’s passionate about her role and has been completely involved in the journey. Despite setbacks, we are working to resolve the issues and move forward.”
Samantha, who recently turned producer with a horror-comedy film titled Shubham, has shown a strong desire to evolve in her career. Producing content and taking on powerful roles in Hindi-language projects show her commitment to growing as an artist beyond regional boundaries. Her resilience, even when facing obstacles like health issues or professional hurdles, continues to inspire her fans.
While Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom may have encountered some turbulence, it seems that the project is not entirely off the table. With a determined team behind it and Samantha’s unwavering dedication, the fantasy series might still come to life, albeit with some delay. Fans will have to wait a little longer, but the story of Samantha’s Bollywood dream is far from over.
